Recorded live during special Millennium performances in Tokyo in the first week of January 2000, Mahler's Symphony No.2 "Resurrection" has been hailed as Maestro Seiji Ozawa showing himself at his best.

On this new double-CD recording, Maestro Ozawa conducts the Saito Kinen Orchestra, which has emerged as one of Japan's most acclaimed musical ensembles. Created in 1984, the orchestra serves to honor the memory of the Japanese cellist, conductor and educator Hideo Saito (1902-74). The performance also features soprano Emiko Suga, contralto Nathalie Stutzmann, and the Shinyukai Choir.

Maestro Seiji Ozawa's distinguished career includes conducting engagements worldwide. This concert season marks Maestro Ozawa's 26th season as music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He has been the recipient of numerous honors and achievements which mark his standing internationally.
